Primary Education
Only
primary school education is compulsory in Malaysia, where multilingual public
schools, private schools and home educators co-exist side by side. Following unregulated
preschool education a child enters primary school at age 7 for a period of 6
years. Following schooling in the community language of their choice they
must sit for their primary school achievement test in order to qualify to
study further.
Secondary Education
There
is no identified middle school period although secondary education is divided
into 2 phases. Following the first 3 years of general education students
write for their lower certificate of education. Thereafter they enter either
the arts or the science stream according to personal choice and teacher
advice for 2 years. Once in that stream though, switching opportunities are
limited. Following this latter period, they may complete 6th form, or study
for a further 2 years for matriculation exemption.
Vocational Education
The
department of skills development oversees the establishment and operation of
all public and private training institutions. It has developed almost 1,000
standards for certificate, diploma and advanced diploma training, and is
rolling more out in approximately 20 identified key areas.
Tertiary Education
Controversy
continues to surround heavily subsidized Malaysian tertiary education because
of tight quotas that protect the racial majority. Some progress has been made
in the direction of a greater meritocracy though, and in the interim
disadvantaged students have the opportunity of enrolling at private or
foreign branch universities.

BRUNAI
DARUSALAM
Pendidikan di Negara Brunei Darussalam
Sistem Pemerintahan Dan Kondisi Demografis
Brunei Darussalam merupakan
salah satu negara di kawasan Asia Tenggara
yang terkenal sangat makmur. Brunei
Darussalam yang merupakan anggota ke-6 ASEAN ini
mendapatkan kemerdekaannya dari Inggris pada tanggal 1
Januari 1984.
Menteri). Kendatipun wewenang serta kekuasaan
Sultan yang diberikan Konstitusi begitu besar,
namun sistem pemerintahan Brunei Darussalam
bersifat demokratis. Tetapi dalam hal cara
pemilihan para birokrat di Brunei cenderung
dengan sistem rekruitmen tertutup. Sistem ini
tidak menyerap personil dari seluruh lapisan
masyarakat.
Kira-kira dua pertiga jumlah
penduduk Brunei adalah orang Melayu. Kelompok
etnik minoritas yang paling penting dan yang
menguasai ekonomi negara ialah orang Tionghoa
(Han) yang menyusun lebih kurang 15% jumlah
penduduknya.
turut berharap supaya dikemaskinikan mata
pelajaran Pengetahuan Agama Islam atau Islamic
Religious Knowledge (IRK) dalam persekolahan umum.
Sehubungan dengan itu,
baginda percaya, program pengembangan sumber tenaga
salih. Baginda menambah titah, semenjak kerajaan
memperkenalkan sistem persekolahan agama hampir setengah
abad yang lalu, rakyat negara ini telah
dapat mempelajari ilmu-ilmu agama khasnya
Ibadat dan Al-Quran dan seterusnya perlaksanaan Pelajaran
Dewasa Agama. Semenjak itulah juga, titah
baginda, persekolahan agama telah berjaya mencorakkan
hidup kita selaku orang-orang Islam di
mana daripadanya terpancar sinar agama menyinari kehidupan ini.
Sistem Perjenjangan
Pendidikan yang Dikembangkan
Sistem pendidikan umum
Brunei memiliki banyak kesamaan dengan negara Commonwealth
lainnya seperti Inggris, Malaysia, Singapura dan
lain-lain. Sistem ini dikenal dengan pola
A7-3-2-2″ yang melambangkan lamanya masa studi untuk
masing-masing tingkatan pendidikan seperti: 7
tahun tingkat dasar, 3 tahun tingkat menengah pertama,
2 tahun tingkat menengah atas dan 2 tahun pra-universitas.
Untuk tingkat dasar dan
menengah pertama, sistem pendidikan Brunei tidak
jauh berbeda dengan Indonesia. Pendidikan
dasar bertujuan memberikan kemampuan dasar bagi
murid-murid dalam menulis, membaca, dan berhitung disamping
membina dan mengembangkan karakter pribadi. Pendidikan TK yang merupakan
bagian tingkat dasar mulai diterapkan di Brunei tahun 1979
dan sejak itu setiap anak berumur 5
tahun diwajibkan memasuki TK selama setahun sebelum diterima di SD kelas
tingkat AO dan AN.
Brunei Cambridge Advanced Level Certificate tingkat AA.

of reforms on the country’s education system outlined by the Congressional
Commission on Education (EDCOM) in 1992. Part of the reforms was the
trifocalization of the education sector into three governing bodies: the CHED
for tertiary and graduate education, the Department of Education (DepEd) for
basic education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) for technical-vocational and middle-level education.

Primary Education
Paaralang Elementarya or elementary education is the
first part of the educational system, and it includes the first six years of
compulsory education from grade 1 to 6, with an optional 7th grade offered by
some schools. Major subjects include maths, science, English, Filipino and
social sciences. Optional subjects include music, arts, physical education, and
health. Private school students may select subjects from a wider curriculum
including religious
instructioninthe
dogma of their choice.
Until 2004, primary students traditionally sat for the National Elementary Achievement Test (NEAT) administered by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS). However, the scores obtained by students in the NEAT were not used as a basis for their admission into Secondary school.
During
2004, when DECS was officially converted into the Department of Education
(DepEd), and as a result of reorganization, the NEAT was changed to National
Achievement Test (NAT) by the Department of Education (DepEd). Students from
both public and private elementary schools take this exam to measure a school's
competency. As of 2006, only private schools have entrance examinations for
Secondary school.
Middle Education

Secondary Education
Secondary
education known as Paaralang Sekundarya comprises 4 grades that have
changed little since the second world war. The curriculum is prescribed for
both private and state schools. Core subjects are as follows:
- Year 1 - Filipino 1, Algebra 1, Integrated Science, English 1, Phillipine History
- Year 2 - Filipino 2, Algebra 2, Biology, English 2, Asian History
- Year 3 - Filipino 3, Geometry, Chemistry, World History, Geography
- Year 4 - Filipino 4, Calculus, Trigonometry, Physics, Literature, Economics
Minor
optional subjects include Health, Music, Arts, Physical Education, Home
Economics and Technology. Selected schools present additional subjects. Total
secondary school numbers exceed 5.5 million.
Vocational Education
Accredited
mainly private institutions known as colleges offer technical and vocational
education. Programs offered vary in duration from a few weeks to two-year
diplomas. On completion students may take centrally-administered examinations
to obtain their diploma or certificate.
Vocational colleges don’t usually require an entrance examination, only a record of high school education and an enrollment fee.

Primary Education
The
Laotian government has universal education in mind for all its citizens, and
has embarked on a national program for building primary schools where pupils
learn for 6 years. The quality of the facilities (and of the teachers too) may
still leave much to be desired in certain rural areas though, which is
encouraging the continuance of a two-tier society.
Secondary Education
Cultural
and language minorities are under-represented at secondary schools, as are
girls too. This is perpetuating a self-fulfilling prophesy of structural
discrimination. The secondary education program comprises two periods of 3
years each, with an additional year added in 2010. Generally speaking, only
students going on to tertiary education complete the second phase.
Tertiary Education
The
French colonial government built an education system on the foundations created
by traditional temple teaching. Later the Laos government extended the system
considerably in the hope of achieving education for all.
The University of Laos was established in 1996 as a re-grouping of a number of existing colleges and institutes. Its faculties include education, literature, social science, economics & management, agriculture, forestry, architecture, engineering, science, medical sciences, and law & political science.
Education in Myanmar — past and present
The debate about the purpose of education
goes beyond the economic/development argument as all education systems have a
political objective: aside from human-capital creation, one of the primary aims
of education systems in modern states is, and has always been, the political
socialisation of the young. Education systems, especially in Asia, have their
origins in processes of state formation aimed either at fostering resistance to
the encroachments of Western and/or Asian imperialism, or at furthering
post-colonial nation building. Definitions of national identity and visions of
nationhood are often popularised by governing elites. One can argue that
education has been used as a political tool throughout the ages and across the
whole world to define national identity and underlie the political rationale of
regimes (Lall and Vickers forthcoming). This has also been the case in Myanmar,
where, throughout the socialist period, but also beyond that, education has
been used for political purposes, largely to underpin the regime in power
(Zarni 1998).
Since the end of the socialist
era, however, and the opening up of the economy (and to a more limited extent
the country) in the late 1980s, an interesting interplay of issues can be
observed: governmental control, under-investment in the social sphere and a
society searching for alternatives. As in most dictatorships, one of the
reasons the military government has been keen to retain control of education is
largely because of the belief that an ‘independent’ way of thinking poses a
direct challenge to them. One could question whether the under-investment in
the education system was motivated by the politics of control—the military
elite perhaps hoping that a less-educated population would pose less of a
challenge. Due to its deterioration, however, Myanmar’s education system has
also become highly ineffective as a political tool. The interesting nexus here
is between a policy of under-investment and a society that is looking for
alternatives that could in effect threaten the State even more.
This section will briefly
describe the background of education in Myanmar before moving on to the private
supplements and alternatives that have started to emerge in urban areas.
Background
The British colonial period
established three types of schools of which the two upper-tier types were used
to train people to fill the lower and middle ranks of the colonial
administration, as they taught in English. The schools that taught entirely in
Burmese were, however, by far the majority of schools. In 1945, the Department
of Education was formed under the British Government to implement the Simla
Scheme of Educational Rehabilitation. The scheme was financed out of the
military budget. At that time, 42 post-primary schools and 2060 primary schools
were opened. The Education Reconstruction Committee of 1947 decided that
Myanmar needed a homogeneous system of schools and that the education system
had to be state provided and state controlled (Lwin 2000:5).
At independence, Myanmar had the
highest literacy rate in its own language across the former British Empire.
This was due not only to the Burmese schools, but largely to the monastic
schools that had always played, and continue to play, a major role in educating
the poorer sections of society (Lorch 2007). Today, Myanmar retains a very high
literacy rate, with 89.9 per cent of adults and 94.5 per cent of youth
considered literate (UNESCO 2007). These statistics, although from a UN agency,
are difficult to verify, but anecdotal evidence in urban areas shows most
people reading on public transport and kerb-sides. The issue of literacy levels
is therefore to be questioned largely in the rural areas.
For many years, other Asian
countries saw Myanmar as an example in education. Decades of under-investment
and civil strife have today resulted in the slow and steady decay of the state
education system across the country. Despite the fact that during the socialist
era school buildings continued to be built in the cities and in the villages,[3] teacher
education and pay deteriorated markedly. It was also at this time that Burmese
was made the medium for teaching at all schools, abolishing the colonial legacy
of English schools for the elite. In higher education, however, this had
repercussions as textbooks and other literature were not available in Burmese.
The state of education today: some different perspectives
During the State Law and Order
Restoration Council (SLORC) period, all higher-education institutions were
closed for years at a time. After the student protest of 1988, all universities
were closed for two years. Another series of student strikes in 1996 and 1998
resulted in a further three years of closure. In Yangon, between 1988 and 2000,
universities were closed for 10 out of 12 years. After the reopening of
universities and colleges in 2000, the government relocated many universities
to different sites and undergraduate programs were moved to campuses far away
from any urban centre. Consequently, higher education by correspondence is
taken up by those who cannot afford to live away from home. Keeping students
away from cities is one of the ways the regime hopes to control any civil
strife. Today, more than 700 000 students attend the 156 higher-education
institutions and there are 10 000 teachers. A further 13 000 students are
enrolled in one or two-year business-related courses (Zaw 2008a). Appendix 8.1
describes the structure of educational institutions in Myanmar.
Education, and especially higher
education, is often criticised in the press in Myanmar and there is no doubt
that it encounters problems. In a response to a critical Burma Digest
article, however, Aung Kyaw Soe (2006) claimed:
It may more correct
to assess that [the] Education system is polarised, some students achieve more
than others, either because of affordability of family, luck or hard work but I
think we are seeing more Burmese graduates with undergraduate education from
Burma are doing well in good graduate schools and work place[s]. I know more
than 500 Burmese engineers with their first degree in Burma and second or third
degrees from good overseas graduate schools.
According to a 2007 Myanmar
Times special issue on education, the government established a 30-year
education development plan in 2001–02 in order to develop a ‘learned society’
for the knowledge age, with the expansion of schools as a priority. The number
of schools is said to have increased to more than 40 000, catering to eight
million students (Zaw 2008b). Problems remain, however, especially with regard
to access, quality and retention.
According to Khin Maung Kyi et
al. (2000:145), the primary enrolment ratio is high. Nevertheless, primary
education faces two main problems: there are not enough schools (the numbers
range from one school for five villages to one school for 25 villages in the
border regions); and there is a high drop-out rate, estimated to be about 34
per cent. The authors also point out the high repetition rate in rural and
urban areas. UNESCO statistics are more positive: net enrolment rates at the
primary level are 100 per cent for girls and 98 per cent for boys; at secondary
level, the figures dropped to 43 per cent for both genders in 2005, with 91 per
cent of all children completing primary education (UNESCO statistics web site
2005). This is in stark contrast with the report from the UN International
Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in 1995 that states that about only 27 per
cent of all children completed five years of primary schooling and only 1.8 per
cent of those who entered primary school completed secondary school (UNICEF
1995).
Another set of figures on
Burmese education (Achilles 2005) cited net attendance in primary schools at 82
per cent for both genders (from 1998 to 2002) and the number of students who
reached class five at 60 per cent officially and unofficially, based on
surveys, at 78 per cent (for 1997–2003). Only 41 per cent of boys and 38 per
cent of girls (from 1998–2002), however, made it into secondary school.
Anonymous interviews in Yangon with an education charity confirmed the high
drop-out rates, explaining that children showed up for the first school day and
that statistics were based on this, but that as soon as a few days into the
school year children, especially in rural areas, stopped attending. In part,
such drop-out rates are the result of the high direct costs of sending children
to school (such as buying books and uniforms). In rural areas, this is
compounded by the high opportunity cost for parents who need their children’s
help working. Although schooling is free in principle, parents are expected to
contribute to the financing of education, as state expenditure on education as
a share of gross domestic product (GDP) is decreasing (Kyi et al. 2000:147).
Those who cannot afford to attend state schools go to monastic schools or forgo
their education altogether. Monastic schools were outlawed in 1962 during the
socialist period and were allowed to return only in 1993. Today, however, 1500
monastic schools have been recognised by the government, catering for 93 000
children (Achilles 2005). In some cases, the building is provided by the State
but parents have to pool their funds to pay for a teacher; this is especially
the case in remote areas (Lorch 2007).
Jasmin Lorch has written about
how community-based groups and especially monasteries have come to fill the
void for poorer sections of society. She also focuses on the role played by
non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in putting together informal education
programs (Lorch 2007). Her paper, however, does not discuss the recent growing
urban trend of private education, which caters to the middle and upper classes.
Education in Vietnam
Providing
their kids with a good education is very important to many Vietnamese parents.
In
this article:
- Living in Vietnam
- Health Care in Vietnam
- Education in Vietnam
Are
you interested in life in Vietnam? Vietnam’s society is comprised of various
minorities and cultural influences. With our guide on life in Vietnam, its
population, housing, healthcare and education, you will quickly find your way
around the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula.
The Vietnamese Education System
There
are five stages in Vietnam’s education system:
- Pre-primary
- Primary
- Intermediate
- Secondary
- Higher education
In
Vietnam, children enjoy 12 years of basic education on a half-day basis before
they move on to college or university or begin to work.
Education
plays a central role in Vietnam. Not only is the devotion to study one of
society’s core values, but education is, of course, also perceived as a chance
of advancement. There are huge education needs for Vietnam’s young ones, and
the public school system cannot always satisfy them. In general, families
invest a lot of time and money to send their children to a good school and
ensure they will have a bright future.
Quality of Education
Just
like the healthcare sector, the education sector could strongly benefit from
reforms. This is specifically the case in higher education institutions which
are not always up to international standards and are thus often not able to
offer a well-rounded education.
Outdated
teaching methods are one of the main issues. Teachers often focus more on
discipline in the classroom than on lively discussions and interaction.
Censorship and interference from the government are also still very common and
make for a stifling teaching environment. Many Vietnamese children eventually
graduate successfully. However, graduates who begin to work for international
companies may need to be retrained.
Quality
of Teaching
As mentioned above, the teaching
quality in the classroom depends largely on the individual teacher. If you send
your children to a Vietnamese school, they will be expected to be passively
attentive and studious. To children who are used to teaching methods prevalent
in Western countries, this may come as a bit of a shock. After all, they may
have gotten used to lively interaction in the class room.
Since public schools are often
underfunded, they cannot offer all the subjects they should or would want to.
For that reason, private language centers are in high demand. They offer
English as a second language to students of all age groups who hope to improve
their professional opportunities. Expats are often hired to teach these classes.
Unfortunately, not every expat is qualified to teach and more often than not,
these language courses lack severely in quality.
Safety
and Security
In
general, Vietnam is a safe country to travel to. Violent crimes are rather
rare, and terrorist threats were also not common at the time of writing.
However, foreigners are often the victim of pick pocketing and other petty
crimes. In bigger cities where tourists like to gather, motorcyclists snatch
purses, bags and cameras from pedestrians and cyclo passengers.
When
you use public transportation, it is important that you only use cyclos
(pedicabs) which are associated with hotels or restaurants. That way, you can
be sure not to fall victim to robbers or kidnappers. Airport taxis (noi bai
taxi) or official vehicles which are provided by your hotel are generally safe.
In Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, the same rules apply as in any other city around
the world: Be cautious and use your common sense.

Perkembangan pendidikan di Timor Leste
Hak Atas Pendidikan Adalah

Primary Education
Education
in Papua New Guinea is still not compulsory and as a result adult illiteracy
rates are likely to remain high. Elementary schooling takes 2 years at a local
community school where the medium of education is the local language. Following
this introductory period, children aged 9 to 14 remain on at the same community
schools to complete their grades 3 to 8.
Middle Education
If
their academic record at primary school is assessed as being suitable, then
children may go on to a provincial high school for a period of 2 years. There
the medium of education is English, Tok Pisin or Mot according to the region.
Secondary Education
Students
with academic ambition may apply to attend a national senior high school for a
final period of 2 years. These urban institutions are few in number though, and
the competition to enter them is fierce.
Vocational Education
After
completing middle school, students also have the opportunity of entering a
variety of technical and vocational schools, and be trained in various
disciplines according to their interest.
Tertiary Education
There
are seven universities in Papua New Guinea, some of which are state funded
while others are private or have religious affiliations. The Pacific Adventist
College offers programs in accounting, business, education, secretarial skills
and theology, and the University of Technology provides degrees in architecture,
business, engineering and forestry.
The University of Papua New Guinea founded in 1965 and depicted here, has faculties of medicine, pharmacy, health sciences, physical & natural sciences, law & business, humanities and social sciences.

Thailand terbagi menjadi 3, yaitu : pendidikan formal, pendidikan non-formal
·
Pendidikan play group dan TK usia 3-6 tahun
·
Pendidikan Sekolah dasar (selama 6 tahun),
grade 1-6
·
Pendidikan Sekolah Menengah (selama 3
tahun), grade 7-9
·
Pendidikan Sekolah Menengah atas (selama 3
tahun), grade 10-12
Ujian
Nasional (UN) di Thailand dikoordinasikan oleh Bureu
of Education Testing Office dari
Komisi Pendidikan Dasar yang memakai Sistem Ordinary National Education Test (O-net). UN di
wajibkan untuk grade 3, 6, 9 dan 12. Ada 8 mata pelajaran yang di-UN kan
yaitu :
1.
Bahasa Thai
2.
Matematika
3.
Science
4.
Ilmu sosial
5.
Agama dan Kebudayaan
6.
Bahasa asing
7.
Health dan Physical Education
8.
Art, Career dan Technology
Sedangkan
Academic affair ,
Kementrian Pendidikan Thailand, secara serentak.
Lima kunci sukses
pendidikan di Thailand, yaitu selalu mendasarkan pada sains dan teknologi;
kita.

Singapore's Education System
A
simple flowchart overview of Singapore's education system
You may click on any level in the
flowchart below to see the relevant list of recommended Singapore school
materials.
From
pre-nursery to university
A growing number of children in
Singapore are attending pre-nursery or playschool education before the age of
4, though this is optional. Many children in Singapore also attend Nursery for
1 year at the age of 4, though this is also optional. By the age of 5, most
children will be attending Kindergarten for 2 years (K1 and K2).
Formal education in Singapore begins
at primary schools, starting from Primary 1 through Primary 6, which is similar
to First Grade through Sixth Grade in the American system.
Children who pass the Primary Six
Leaving Examination (PSLE) at the end of Primary 6 will progress to secondary
schools, starting from Secondary 1 through Secondary 4 (Special/Express
Stream), or Secondary 1 through Secondary 5 (Normal Stream). This is somewhat
similar to Seventh Grade through Tenth Grade in the American system.
Students who pass the GCE 'O' Level
examination at the end of Secondary 4 or 5 will then have to compete for
admission to either a Junior College (2 years), a Polytechnic (3 or 4 years) or
a Pre-University Centre (3 years). This is somewhat similar to Eleventh Grade and
Twelfth Grade in the American system.
Finally, students who pass the GCE
'A' Level examination at the end of Junior College Year 2 or Pre-University
Year 3, and students with excellent results at the end of Polytechnic Year 3/4
will then have to compete for admission to a local university, either National
University of Singapore (NUS) or Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Singapore's
school textbooks and workbooks
All school textbooks, workbooks and
assessment books have to follow the subject syllabus set by the Singapore
education ministry for each level. Due to the progressive liberalisation of the
school textbook market, you will find that all Singapore schools may be using
only one textbook package for Mathematics and English for certain levels, while
they are allowed to choose from a list of several textbook packages for
Mathematics and English for the other levels.
Singapore's
school assessment books
Other than school textbooks and
workbooks, assessment books also make up a significant part of Singapore's
success recipe in education. Assessment books provide children with additional
practice and drills beyond those covered in school workbooks. Almost every
child in Singapore owns at least a few assessment books for each subject. It is
not uncommon for parents to buy dozens of assessment books for their children
for each subject. Assessment books are also widely used in Singapore schools as
part of their school curriculum, as well as tuition centres after school hours.
Singapore Math school assessment
books provide children with more exercises, which are often more difficult and
challenging, than those in the workbooks. Some assessment books provide only
topical exercises, some provide only revision exercises, some provide only test
papers, some provide only word problems, some provide only thinking skills
exercises, and some provide a combination of two or more of the above.
The
secret of Singapore's success in education
There are many ingredients in the
success of Singapore's education system. First and foremost is the efficiency,
dedication and work of our education ministry in Singapore. They are the ones
who produced the framework for our education system and our syllabi. Singapore
school books, including textbooks, workbooks and assessment books, are written
based on the above mentioned syllabi.
However, our education ministry
updates its syllabi regularly to ensure they remain relevant in the ever
changing global economy. Hence, the old editions of the Singapore books are
obsolete because they are based on the old syllabi whereas the new editions of
the Singapore books are based on the new syllabi. It is therefore very
important that you buy directly from SGBox.com Bookstore to make sure that you are getting the correct books and the
true value for your money.
The environment in Singapore is also
a major important contributing factor. A large majority of parents in Singapore
are very concerned about the education of their children, and will strive to
give their children the best in their education, including buying lots of
assessment books and getting private tuition for their children.
The competitive environment in most
schools in Singapore is another major factor. Children are assessed many times each
year by their teachers via homework, projects, tests and exams. Streaming is
part and parcel of this competition. Children are streamed into various classes
according to their academic ability, which is highly dependent on their grades.
Even our Singapore schools are ranked according to the national exam grades
that their students received each year.
China
dibandingkan biaya kuliah di UK, AS, Australia maupun Singapura.
Medical.
Dalam sebuah buku yang
ditulis oleh Ling Langing (mantan Wakil PM China), berjudul Education for 1.3
Biliion (Pearson Education and China : Foreign Language Teaching & Research
Press, 2005), China menjalankan reformasi pendidikan yang berhasil membentuk
dengan karakter modern. Kebijakannya tentang reformasi pendidikan diinspirasi
berlangsung selam 3 tahun. Dilanjutkan masuk sekolah dasar pada usia 6 tahun.
Sekolah Dasar berlangsung selama 6 tahun dengan mata pelajaran utama Bhasa
China, Matematika, Sejarah, Geografi, Sains, dan sebagainya. Selain itu ada
juga pendidikan moral dan politik dasar. Dukungan besar juga diberikan untuk
pendidikan jasmani.
Pendidikan Menengah
Pendidikan
menengah dibagi menjadi 2 bagian yaitu pendidikan menengah akademis dan
pendidikan menengah kejuruan/khusus/teknik. Sekolah menengah akademis dibagi
pengaruh semangat entrepreneurship warganya. Masrayakat China selalu
aktif dalam kegiatan ekonomi. Menjadi

North Korea
Education
A
total of 11 years of primary and secondary education are free and compulsory.
The system comprises one year of preschool, four years of primary school, and
six years of secondary school. Education serves as a process of inculcating
communist ideology and a means to supply skilled workers, technicians, and
scientists to meet the government’s economic goals. All students are required
to engage in productive labour along with their studies, which emphasize
science and technology. Institutions of higher education offer programs of two
to six years in length; the most important institution of higher education is
Kim Il-sung University ... (100 of 11,143 words)
Inside the North Korean School System
By
One
of my creepiest experiences in North Korea was a tour of a primary school.
Our
bus pulled into an empty, cheerless concrete schoolyard, and we were marched up
to the principal's office. I had immediate flashbacks of all the times I'd
spent in the office as a kid, and the string of suspensions I earned. I wonder
how I would have fared in Pyongyang?
We sat around a large conference table, where the principal told us about the
North Korean school system and how her school is run. In primary schools,
morning classes are devoted to Communist morality, revolutionary history,
Korean language and arts (with revolutionary themes), and the study of the
lives of the Great Leader and the Dear Leader. I suppose leftover time must be
allotted to math and science. Afternoons are apparently free leisure time.
Students can go home and do their own thing, or they can voluntarily study such
things as traditional music or dance. We would learn more about what
"voluntary" meant that afternoon.
While
we were talking one of the guys asked if he could take her picture. She nodded
yes, but as he began snapping photos she stopped in mid-sentence and pointed to
the wall above her head, at the ever-present framed pictures of Kim Il-Sung and
Kim Jong-Il. "Please be careful not to cut the Leader's photo in
half," she said.
I
later discovered that it's a crime to do so. It's also a crime to tear a
picture of the Leader in half, even if it happens accidentally.
(I
heard a story about a German who visited North Korea on the same sort of trip
as me. He was smoking in his hotel room, and he butted out his cigarette on an
old newspaper. He didn't know there was a photo of the Leader on the other
side. The cleaning staff found it and reported him. Armed men burst into his
room, threw him on the floor, and shoved guns in his face, screaming in furious
Korean. The situation was eventually calmed down, and he was immediately deported
to China, his trip at an end. The punishment for locals is time in a
concentration camp.)
After
our brief talk with the principal, we were given a tour of the school. We were
told that unfortunately it was summer vacation and the students were away. We'd
seen kids all over the city wearing school uniforms, but apparently they were
involved in "voluntary extra curricular activities." I wonder if the
kids are always on vacation when groups of foreigners come to visit?
Despite
that warning, when we toured the classrooms we discovered some children had
been brought in for our benefit. The girls were dressed in frilly white dresses
and traditional Korean gowns--hardly the kind of thing you'd wear to school.
The
hallways were silent, but just as we were about to step into the science lab
the room broke out into animated voices. We walked in on the teacher in
mid-lecture, as one eager boy was offering the perfect answer to her question.
The noise died moments after we left the room.
In
another classroom I saw a picture of Kim Jong-Il as a child sitting on his
father's knee. I asked our minder how old the Dear Leader would have been in
this photo. He said about 10 years old. I then asked him the date. It
corresponded exactly to the date when the military museum guide told us the
child prodigy General Kim Jong-Il was leading battles and planning military
strategy against American and UN forces during the Korean War. The official
propaganda is full of such contradictions, but everyone ignores it as though
their life depended on it (it does).
Those
first two classrooms were weird, but they had nothing on the art class. We
entered the room to find that the kids had just finished drawing perfect copies
of a bird. They were just setting down their pencils as we walked in. Tacked up
on a bulletin board were other samples of their work. One showed a ship being
torpedoed, with "USA" written clearly on its side. Another showed an
American soldier being stabbed in the throat by a schoolgirl with a giant pencil
as great gouts of blood spurted from the wound. This isn't something they
dreamed up on their own. Everything about their upbringing in North Korea has
been carefully calculated to indoctrinate such hate.
Our
last stop was the music classroom. The students struck up a well-rehearsed
concert just as we walked through the door, but the effect was calculated to
seem like they'd been "practicing" all along. They played for 20
minutes, accordion, guitar, traditional songs and dances.
They
were really quite good, but I didn't get the impression that they were enjoying
it. Their faces were frozen in fake smiles, and they all swayed back and forth
in the same zombie-like fashion. When anyone made a small mistake, they snuck
fearful glances at the stern-faced teacher like a pet cowering in anticipation
of a kick.
When
the concert ended the children set down their instruments and rushed towards us
in a group. They simply wanted to grab and shake our hands, but all I could
think about was that drawing of the American soldier being stabbed in the
throat--I covered my neck and almost recoiled in horror.
Here are a few more photos from the
school visit, because you really have to see it to believe it...
Studies in the lives of the Great

EdEducational System in Japan Today ucational
System in Japan Today
Today
the generally called educational system is 6-3-3-4 system which has 6 years
in elementary school, three years in middle school, three years in high
school, and 4 years in university. This system was inagurated by the school
education law which was gpromulgating enacted in March 1947. By this,
compared to the past system in which in higher school than middle school male
and female go to different places, the idea of coeducation was born.
24~
Basically, there are children who go to kindergarden or nourishment school
before going to elementary school. Elementary school and middle school are
commonly known by the compulsory education because of the meaning of
"parents ought to give thier children education." People graduate
from this and advance to their own way. For example, as you see in the chart
bellow, they go to high school, go to special school, find work, find a part
time job, etc. Also, basically when they become high school junior they are
divided to scientific course and literature course. Then from there they go
to univeisity, go to juior college, go to special school, or find job. The
rate of people who go to university is 31% as setting elemtary schol 100. In
university, up to the present, there are liberal arts for freshman and
sophomore years in national universities and other universities but recently
it tends to be abolished. In brief, the specialization is going on. Also,
after graduate it, they go to graduation school or find job.
Owing
to this educational system, the literacy rate in Japan become 100% and Japan
had sudden economic growth. But today because the people who enter into high
school and univesity increase beyond expectation, the keen examination war
are played. For this, there are lively discussion in the country. It is the
fact that whether it is good or bad, examination is inseparable from talking
about Japanese education. Also, it is not certain that examination is cause,
but recently we often hear on problem of bully. Now for these status quo,
various aproaches and efforts to improvement are tried.

School System
The Japanese educational system
was reformed after World War II. The old 6-5-3-3 system was changed to a
6-3-3-4 system (6 years of elementary school, 3 years of junior high school, 3
years of senior high school and 4 years of University)
with reference to the American system. The gimukyoiku (compulsory education)
time period is 9 years, 6 in shougakkou (elementary school) and 3 in chuugakkou
(junior high school).
Japan has one of the world's
best-educated populations, with 100% enrollment in compulsory grades and zero
illiteracy. While not compulsory, high school (koukou) enrollment is over 96%
nationwide and nearly 100% in the cities. The high school drop out rate is
about 2% and has been increasing. About
46% of all high school graduates go on to university or junior college.
The Ministry of Education
closely supervises curriculum, textbooks, classes and maintains a uniform level
of education throughout the country. As a result, a high standard of education
is possible.
Student Life
Most schools operate on a
three-term system with the new year starting in April. The modern educational
system started in 1872, and is modeled after the French school system, which
begins in April. The fiscal year in Japan also begins in April and ends in
March of the following year, which is more convenient in many aspects.
April is the height of spring
when cherry
blossom (the most loved flower of the Japanese!) bloom and a most
suitable time for a new start in Japan. This difference in the school-year
system causes some inconvenience to students who wish to study abroad in the
U.S. A half year is wasted waiting to get in and often another year is wasted
when coming back to the Japanese university system and having to repeat a year.
Except for the lower grades of
elementary school, the average school day on weekdays is 6 hours, which makes
it one of the longest school days in the world. Even after school lets out, the
children have drills and other homework to keep them busy. Vacations are 6
weeks in the summer and about 2 weeks each for winter and spring breaks. There
is often homework over these vacations.
Every class has its own fixed
classroom where its students take all the courses, except for practical
trainings and laboratory work. During elementary education, in most cases, one
teacher teaches all the subjects in each class. As a result of the rapid
population growth after World War II, the numbers of students in a typical
elementary or junior high school class once exceeded 50 students, but now it is
kept under 40. At public elementary and junior high school, school lunch
(kyuushoku) is provided on a standardized menu, and it is eaten in the
classroom. Nearly all junior high schools require their students to wear a
school uniform (seifuku).
A big difference between the
Japanese school system and the American School system is that Americans respect
individuality while the Japanese control the individual by observing group
rules. This helps to explains the Japanese characteristic of group behavior.
Penerapan
Cyber education diluncurkan setelah Presiden Kim Daejung menekankan pentingnya
mencapai 100.000 siswa pertahun. Sedangkan menurut economiest Intelligent
Unithttp_e learning_readiness_rankings.pdf) korea selatan menduduki peringkat
Dimana setiap
rumah diadakan jaringan internet ultra high-speed dan jumlah pemakainya
melebihi 10 juta pada November 2002.
SISTIM PENDIDIKAN ARAB SAUDI
Oleh Wahyudin Permana,
ST

institut untuk perempuan (college for women), institut administrasi publik
(institute of public administration) dan institut keguruan (teacher training
college). Semua universitas berada di bawah supervisi Kementerian Pendidikan
Tinggi (Ministry of Higher Education) kecuali Universitas Islam Madinah
of Ministers).

Apabila kita mengambil jalur tesis,

In 2004 King Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa introduced a project
that uses Information Communication Technology (ICT) to support K–12
education in Bahrain. This project is named King Hamad Schools of Future. The
objective of this project is to connect and link all schools within the
kingdom with the internet. In addition to British intermediate schools, the
island is served by the Bahrain School (BS). The BS is a United States
Department of Defense school that provides a K-12 curriculum including
International Baccalaureate offerings. There are also private schools that
offer either the IB Diploma Programme or UK A-Levels.

Primary Education
Education
in the Gulf State island of Bahrain is free, and has recently been declared
compulsory too. The government adheres to a three-phase model, which begins
with 6 years at primary school. Here a general academic curriculum has been
adopted, together with a religious instruction program that continues for 9
years.
Middle Education
The
3 years at intermediate school complete the standardized academic program which
all students are required to follow. The drop-out rate from primary school is
nearly 25%, despite the fact that educational supplies, uniforms,
transportation and even meals are free.
Secondary Education
Students
have 3 choices when they enter secondary school for 3 years. These include
engaging in general, commercial or industrial programs. Education continues to
be totally free. Despite this, just 40% of primary school pupils enter this
phase, with girls far worse affected.
Vocational Education
The
Bahrain government is fully committed to ongoing adult education, and has
established more than 50 adult education centers where almost any skill may be
acquired.
Tertiary Education
The
two leading tertiary institutions are the Bahrain Polytechnic which aims to
shape a modern, more inclusive culture where Islam and Science may be blended,
and the University of Bahrain. Several recent private colleges have
introduced lower standards, which are being countered by a system of quality
control.. The University established in 1986 as a joint venture among Gulf
States and illustrated here, remains the largest educator in the region, with
schools of arts, information technology, sciences, engineering, medicine and
English language.
Education in Israel
Matriculation Examination – “Bagrut”
The
Israeli public school system includes the following levels:
• Primary
schools – grades 1-6;
• Middle
schools – grades 7-9;
• Upper
secondary/high school – grades 10-12.
Matriculation
Examination – “Bagrut”
The
Bagrut certificate is awarded by the national Ministry of Education to
secondary school pupils who succeed in achieving passing grades in a required
minimum set of examinations, some in required subjects and others in electives.
The
Bagrut examinations are utilized to assess the pupils’ knowledge on subjects
studied in high school. While frequently compared to the New York State
Regents’ Exams and ETS Advanced Placement (AP) tests, the results of the Bagrut
exams have even greater implications for the individual’s future. In Israel,
acceptance into elite military units, academic studies, and employment are
heavily influenced by receipt of a Bagrut certificate and the Bagrut scores
achieved.
The
score recorded for the pupil in each of the subjects included in his/her Bagrut
certificate is the average of the grade fixed by his/her high school and the
grade received on a final examination set and graded by the Ministry of
Education.
Subjects
are tested a study unit level, ranging from 1 to 5 units. In general,
each unit represents ninety (90) class hours devoted to the field in question.
The
current list of subjects in which all candidates for the Bagrut must be tested
is as follows:

Pupils
may choose to devote more of their program of studies to the above subjects and
be tested at a level higher than the minimum required.
In
addition to the required core subjects, each candidate for the Bagrut must be
tested in one or more elective subjects, determined in keeping with the pupil’s
interests and the course offerings of the high school in which he/she is
enrolled. Elective subjects are tested at the 3, 4, or 5 unit levels.
Bagrut
examination scores are ranked according to the following scale:

In
order to be awarded a Bagrut certificate, the candidate must be tested in
subjects totaling at least 20 study units – 15 units in the required subjects
and at least one elective subject, tested at the 5 unit level. A candidate
will not be awarded a Bagrut certificate if he/she:
• has
received a grade of 39 or lower in any required subject;
• has
received a grade of 44 or lower in either Hebrew Grammar or Hebrew Composition;
• has
received a grade of 44 or lower in any two required subjects other than Hebrew
Grammar or Composition;
• has
not achieved a passing grade of 45 or higher in a 5 unit elective subject.
The
Bagrut certificate contains the following information:
• pupil’s
name and national identification number;
• high
school from which the pupil graduated;
• list
of subjects, study units, and national-external and high school- internal
scores.
Pupils
who intend to undertake academic degree studies at an Israeli university or
college after graduating from high school need to prepare themselves to be
tested in English at the 4 unit level, and in Mathematics at 4 or 5 unit level.
Typically students take at least one elective course at the 5 unit level.
Entrance requirements vary depending on the field of study, and certain
faculties require more than one course at the 5 unit level.
The Structure of Higher Education in Israel
The
higher education system is made up of:
- universities, which offer Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral degrees (with the exception of the Weizmann Institute, which offers only post-graduate degrees);
- the Open University, offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees;
- academic colleges, institutions of higher education that have been accredited to award Bachelor’s degrees (and in some cases, Master’s degrees as well);
- academic teacher training colleges, which award B.Ed. degrees;
- regional colleges, which offer academic courses which give credit towards degrees awarded by sponsoring universities;
- and extension campuses of foreign institutions of higher education, which have been licensed by Israel’s Council for Higher Education.
The
Council for Higher Education is a statutory entity, empowered by law to serve
as Israel’s sole academic accrediting agency.
With
limited exceptions, Hebrew is the language of instruction in Israel’s
institutions of higher education. Arabic is the main language of instruction at
three teacher training colleges and in Arab teachers’ centers which operate
within the framework of a number of teacher training colleges. Also, some
special programs are taught in English.
Admission to institutions of higher education for Bachelor’s
degree studies
Receipt
of a “full” matriculation certificate (bagrut) from the national Ministry of
Education is generally a prerequisite for admission to an institution of higher
education. Those who have not received a full bagrut, whose grades are low, or
who were tested at a low difficulty level in important required disciplines
such as English and mathematics may try to improve their secondary school
credentials by enrolling in special pre-academic programs and retaking bagrut
examinations.
The
second main prerequisite for admission is the national academic admissions
psychometric examination. This Israeli SAT-equivalent is based on three
component examinations: verbal aptitude (administered in Hebrew or Arabic);
quantitative aptitude; and English. The composite examination scores, based on
the results of the three tests, range from 200 to 800.
The
institutions of higher education merge candidates’ bagrut grades and their
psychometric scores into a single composite score, which is then used to
determine whether to accept or reject an applicant.
Students
typically decide on their major field before applying for admission to the
university or college. They apply to and are accepted by specific faculties and
departments. The threshold composite score required for admission varies from
course of study to course of study, in keeping with demand and the number of
places available.
Undergraduate Degree Programs
By
state rule, the minimum length of study for a bachelor’s degree is three years.
Most bachelor’s degree programs at universities in Israel require three years
of intensive study in a single or dual major. Exceptions are nursing,
engineering, architecture, and law degrees, degrees in these fields are granted
after four years of study.
Requirements
for degrees are specified in terms of credit points. The curriculum is very
intensive and can reach up to forty hours per week. Undergraduate students take
anywhere from six to ten three unit courses per semester. The focus is on class
attendance, participation in class, seminar papers and developing research
skills. Typically 120 units are required to obtain a bachelor’s degree, but
individual departments may require more than this number of units for graduation.
The
program of studies for the bachelor’s degree does not include
distribution requirements which mandate course work in fields not directly
related to the student’s major. Students typically begin concentration in their
major fields from their first semester of studies.
Whereas
the study of law and medicine are undertaken in the US at the post-graduate
level, in Israel students are accepted to legal and medical studies on the
basis of completion of secondary studies.
Master’s Degree Programs
Generally
students must have at least an undergraduate grade average of 80 for admission
to Master’s degree studies. Some departments may require a higher average in
the student’s major field, while others may conditionally accept students with
lower grades. In some cases, the GRE and the GMAT tests, together with personal
interviews, are also required.
Many
university departments offer two programs of study towards receipt of the
Master’s degree. One program requires that students write a master’s thesis and
qualifies them to pursue doctoral studies in the department, while the other
does not require a thesis and is designed for students who do not intend to
pursue a doctorate.
With
isolated exceptions, the Council for Higher Education has authorized
non-university institutions of higher education to offer only non-thesis
Master’s degree programs.
It
is expected that Master’s degree students will complete their studies and the
preparation of their thesis (in thesis-based programs) within two years.
Doctoral Degree Programs
Only
Israel’s seven universities have been authorized by the Council for Higher
Education to award doctoral degrees. Usually four or more additional years,
after the receipt of the Master’s degree, are required to complete a doctoral
program.
Admission
to a doctoral degree program typically demands a Master’s degree grade average
of at least 80 in course work and a thesis grade of 85 or higher. At the
discretion of university doctoral committees, applicants who do not meet the
requisite standard within one year, may be admitted provisionally. Previous
research experience and publications are taken into consideration.
In
recent years, direct doctoral programs have been introduced. These programs are
intended for exceptional students who in their Bachelor’s degree studies earned
a GPA of at least 90 in their intended major field and an average of at least
80 in other course work. The first year of a direct Doctoral program is an
accelerated Master’s program. If a high level of achievement is maintained, the
student may bypass the second year of the master’s program and proceed directly
to doctoral studies. Students who decide not to continue in the Ph.D. track,
and have accumulated sufficient credits, are awarded a Master’s degree.
Pendidikan di Australia
SEKOLAH DASAR
& MENENGAH
Sekolah di Australia
dibagi menjadi dua golongan yakni sekolah negeri dan swasta. Keduanya menerima
pelajar internasional dan mendapatkan dana dari pemerintah. Kebanyakan
PENDIDIKAN
KEJURUAN & PELATIHAN (TAFE & VET)
Program studi kejuruan semacam
politeknik dikenal dengan nama TAFE (Technical
And Further Education) milik pemerindah, dan VET (Vocational Education & Training)
milik swasta atau juga disebut College. Lulusan pendidikan kejuruan ini
memperoleh kualifikasi di bawah Australian Qualification
Framework (AQF)*, seperti : Certificate I, Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma.
Biaya pendidikan kejuruan berkisar sekitar
Program Pra-Universitas
(Foundation)
ini dibagi menjadi beberapa cabang ilmu, seperti business, sciences, arts, design, media dan social sciences. Biaya untuk Program Pra-Universitas (Foudation) rata-rata sekitar AU$ 15.000 – AU$ 23.000 per tahun.
PROGRAM
SARJANA PROFESIONAL (UNDERGRADUATE
DEGREE)
Australia memiliki 37
universitas negeri dan 2 universitas swasta. Semua universitas menawarkan
gelar kehormatan (Honours). Bila lulus dengan nilai memuaskan (First
singkat.
Setiap universitas Australia memiliki

Primary
Education
New
Zealand education, which has been ranked 7th best in the world,
follows the model of primary schools, secondary schools and tertiary education.
From age 6 to 16, education is both compulsory and free (although course
materials are not). In an unusual twist, a pupil living over 5 kilometers from
their nearest school may opt for distance learning. Most children enter primary
school at age 5 where they remain for 6 years.
Middle
Education
The
primary education program merges into middle school in different ways. Children
may remain on at their primary school for grades 7 and 8, or complete these 2
years at bridging intermediate school (stream “a”). Alternatively they may go
directly on to junior secondary school where they spend 4 years (stream “b”).
Secondary
Education
Students
who followed either version of stream “a” complete their last 5 years at
secondary schools, while stream “b” spend the last 3 of these at senior
secondary school. This unusual composite model is designed to accommodate
varying structural capacity in city and rural areas. Sparsely populated areas
may have only primary and secondary schools, while city folk may have the
benefit of all 4 tiers. In the end though, the outcomes are the same, and the
same high teaching standards prevail.
Vocational
Education
New
Zealand is well served by nearly 40 industry training organizations under the
aegis of the industry training act. Unusually, these are financed by a
combination of state funding and contributions from trade and industry. They
purchase capacity blocks from accredited service providers in advance. The
actual training is increasingly being provided in the workplace. Outputs
include both apprenticeships for youth, and re-training for adults of all ages.
Tertiary
Education
The
country is well endowed with a combination of 8 universities and a variety of
teacher training colleges. There are in addition a number of private training
establishments that fill gaps in the state system, for example in practical
business, computing, health care, and hospitality skills.
The
oldest tertiary institution is the University of Otago founded in 1869 and
illustrated here. It has approximately 22,000 students enrolled, and is
considered academically second only to the larger University of Auckland.
SISTEM PENDIDIKAN DI BELANDA
Sistem
- Pendidikan Tingkat Dasar dan lanjutan (Primary and Secondary Education)
- Pendidikan Tingkat Menengah Kejuruan (Senior Secondary Vocational Education and Training)
- Pendidikan Tingkat Tinggi (Higher Education)
Berikut
keterangan dari masing-masing sistem pendidikan tersebut :
- Pendidikan Tingkat Dasar dan lanjutan (Primary and Secondary Education)
- Wajib sejak berumur 5 tahun
2.
Pendidikan Lanjutan
- Dimulai sejak siswa berumur 12 tahun, dan diwajibkan sampai umur 16 tahun
3.
Beberapa Tingkatan Pendidikan Lanjutan
Lulusan
VWO Ã Bisa mengakses langsung ke Universitas
Lulusan
HAVO Ã Bisa mengakses langsung ke HBO (Hogeschool/Universities of
Profesional Education)
Dua
- Science and Technology (ilmu Teknologi/Fisika)
- Science and Health (Ilmu Kesehatan)
- Economic and Society (Sosial Ekonomi)
- Culture and Society (Sosial Budaya)
Pendidikan
Tingkat Menengah Kejuruan (Senior Secondary Vocational Educational and
Training) (MBO) – 4 tahun
Memiliki
bebrapa jurusan, yakni ekonomi, teknik, kesehatan, perawatan diri,
HBO (Hogeschool)
Pendidikan
Tingkat Tinggi (Higher Education)
Pendidikan
tingkat tinggi di Belanda terdiri atas 2 bagian, yaitu :
HBO
(Hogeschool/Universities of Profesional Education)
WO
(Research Universities)
Hogeschool (HBO) = 5 tahun SD + 8 tahun SMP
Adapun
syarat masuk HBO adalah sebagai berikut :
-Memiliki
ijazah HAVO/MBO level 4
-Setiap
penilaian skala 1-10, dengan nilai lulus paling rendah 6. Umumnya nilai 9
snagat jarang diberikan, nilai 10 dianggap aneh jika didapatkan, dan 1-3 jarang
sekali digunakan.
Setelah
tahun 2002, pemerintah Belanda memberlakukan sistem pendidikan tingkat tinggi
(Higher Education) baru.
mengumpulkan kredit sebesar 240 ELTS/European Credit Transfer Sistem) selama 4
tahun.
Lulusan
berkaitan dengan : Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Nursing.
-Master
mengumpulkan kredit sebanyak 120 ELTS (i/2 tahun)
Lulusan
sesuai jurusannya.
Universitas
(WO) = 5 tahun SD + 6 tahun SMP
-Memberikan
pendidikan yang bersifat spesifik/ penjurusan berdasarkan ilmu-ilmu murni
-Bachelor
degree dapat diperoleh setelah mengumpulkan kredit sebanyak 180 ECTS ? European
Credit Transfer Sistem selama 3 tahun. Lulusan program bachelor dari
Universitas berhak menggunakan title bachelor of Science dan Bachelor of Arts
(BA/BSc) tergantung dari jurusan yang diambil.
-Master
degree
Mengumpulkan
kredit sebanyak 60, 90, atau 120 ELTS sebanyak 1, 1,5, atau 2 tahun. Lulusan
program master dari universitas berhak menggunakan title Master of Science of
Arts sesuai jurusan.
Syarat
masuk WO :
-Memiliki
ijazah VWO
-
Setiap penilaian skala 1-10, dengan nilai lulus paling rendah 6. Umumnya nilai
9 sangat jarang diberikan, nilai 10 dianggap aneh jika didapatkan, dan 1-3
jarang sekali digunakan.
VMBO-HBO
(Bachelor) 21 Tahun
HAVO-HBO
(Bachelor) 21 Tahun
VWO-WO
(Master) 22-23 Tahun
Skema
Penjurusan bahkan mulai berlaku
ketika anak baru memasuki wilayah Sekolah Dasar.
Jerman hanya memiliki dua jenjang pendidikan Pra Perguruan Tinggi, yaitu pendidikan
pendidikan sampai jenjang perguruan tinggi.
langsung memutuskan berdasarkan nilai Abitur.
Ditarawkan:
a) Program klasik
menyelesaikan Vordiplom, mahasiswa memerlukan waktu sekitar 2,5 tahun. Setelah
mendapatkan Vordiplom, barulah mahasiswa diijinkan mengambil mata kuliah
Setelah
menyelesaikan semua mata kuliah Hauptstudium, barulah mahasiswa diijinkan
proses persamaan terlebih dahulu.
pemerintah setiap region.
Pendidikan menengah
Sebelum pendidikan
tinggi, sistem akan dibagi menjadi 4 tingkatan:
- Prasekolah (Educación Infantil, segundo ciclo) – untuk usia 3 sampai 6 tahun
- Sekolah Dasar (Educación Primaria) – enam tahun – untuk usia 6 sampai 12 tahun
- Sekolah Wajib Menengah (Educación Secundaria Obligatoria) – empat tahun – untuk usia 12 sampai 16 tahun
- Pendidikan pasca-wajib (Bachillerato) – dua tahun – untuk usia 16 hingga 18 tahun
Anak
Obligatoria.
Sekolah
Dasar
Tersusun dari siklus dua
tahunan:
- Siklus Pertama (usia 6 sampai 8 tahun)
- Siklus Kedua (usia 8 sampai 10 tahun)
- Siklus Ketiga (usia 10 sampai 12 tahun)
Sekolah
Menengah Wajib (ESO)
- Siklus Pertama (usia 12 sampai 14 tahun)
- Siklus Kedua (usia 14 sampai 16 tahun)
Setelah menyelesaikan
ESO, siswa memiliki pilihan kelanjutan, termasuk:
- Sarjana Muda (diploma pasca-wajib)
- Sekolah Kejuruan
- Kerja (jika memungkinkan kerja sejak usia 16 tahun)
Sarjana
Muda (Bachillerato)
Program
masa sarjana, beberapa jurusan memiliki berbagai persyaratan cabang (seperti
Setiap
tahunnya, 60 ECTS diberikan, jadi, setiap jurusan memiliki 240 nilai ECTS.
EDUCATIONAL
SYSTEM OF UKRAINE
The Educational system of Ukraine is continuously changing due to the requirements of the period of transition in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Though this article is a description of the traditional Ukrainian education, it also includes some information on the most recent changes in it. These changes affected not only a number of educational institutions in Ukraine, their affiliations and forms of property, but also the type of activities that they provide students with and curriculum.
During
the Soviet period , Ukraine had only state-supported institutions, and none
with religious affiliations. All educational institutions, including pre-school
and higher educational institutions were required to be licensed by th e
Ministry of Education to be eligible to conduct specific activities and award
Diplomas, Certificats or other documents upon completion of study. The Ministry
of education remains the only accrediting body of educational institutions in
Ukraine,
though the accreditation criterias have been recently changed .
PRE-SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Elementary
and secondary education in Ukraine comprises pre-school through grade XI.
Components of these levels of education are:
pre-school programs which are
attended by two-third of all ukrainian children. Children aged 6 month to 3
years, enroll in nursery school (dityachy yasly). Children, aged 3 to 6 years
enroll in kindergarten (dityachiy sad).
- secondary education: elementary education in grades I - IY; lower secondary in grades Y - IX; and upper secondary in grades X - XI. Grades I through IX are collectively called Incomplete (General) Secondary Education, and grades X and XI are called Complete Secondary education.
Elementary
education (a translation of "pochatkova osvita" or "beginning
education") comprises the first four years of formal education. The
elementary grades provide functional skills in reading, writing, arithmetic,
speech, hygiene, and social behavior. Legislated goals also include physical training,
introduction to art, music and environmental issues.
Lower
secondary (middle) school comprises grades Y - IX. Subject-based teaching is
employed in these grades. Lower secondary school marks the end of compulsory
schooling (grade IX). The graduate receives an Attestat of Incomplete Secondary
Education which is required for entry by every type of secondary education
institution.
UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION
Three
types of institutions offer the upper secondary school curriculum for grades
X-XI: the general academic schools; the secondary vocational-technical schools
and the specialised secondary school. The core curriculum is similar in all
three, and the exit diploma from each confers similar rights to university
access.
VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL/SECONDARY VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL
The
vocational-technical and the secondary vocational-technical school designed to
give lower secondary school graduates skills for entry into the job market.
Graduates receive a Diploma of Completion of Vocational- Technical School.
Those who obtain this diploma "with distinction" have the option of
direct entry into an institution of higher education as first year students.
However, most graduates must work for two years to become eligible to apply for
admission to a university, polytechnic or institute.
TECHNICAL LYCEUM
Technical
Lyceum offers full-time (12 - to 18-month) courses for graduates of 11-year to
complete secondary education in specific skills or trades (restaurants or
tourist trades, etc.). Technical programs are intended to be terminal ocational
programs and do not lead to advanced standing in any type of institutions.
SPECIALISED AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION:
"TEKHNICUM"
AND "UCHILISHCHE"
There
are two types of specialised secondary educational institutions:
- TEKHNIKUM for highly skilled technical, industrial, engineering technologies, agriculture, business and some applied arts fields; and
- UCHILISHCHE for pre-school teaching, nursing, medical technologies, and librarianship.
Admission
to these institutions is based on entrance examinations which tests the general
and mathematics knowledge. Upon completion of tekhnicum or uchilishche the
graduate is awarded the diploma of completion of Specialised Secondary
Education by the Qualification Commission. This diploma marks the completion
both secondary education and a specialised course of study in the field
undertaken at the tekhnicum or uchilishche. Since 1989 many institutions of
specialised and technical education have been transformed into colleges with
the main goal to create institutions capable of educating highly trained
professionals.
Entry
into a college is similar to entry into tekhnicum. Entrance exams determine
eligibility. Students enter a three-year-and-10-month program for graduates of
IX grade (with the incomplete secondary education), or two-year-and-10-month
program for graduates of complete secondary school. Educational programs in
college lead to Diploma of Completion of College.
TYPES OF INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION:
Admission
requirements are still largely set by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.
UNIVERSITIES,
POLYTECHNICS INSTITUTES, SPECIALISED INSTITUTES AND ACADEMIES, PEDAGOGICAL
INSTITUTES.
Regardless
of the type of secondary training completed, ukrainian student has the right to
continue education at a postsecondary institution. Applications are accepted
from citizens of both sexes who meet the following requirements:
- Students have completed secondary education.
- For full-time study students are under 35 years of age. There are no age limit for part-time or evening study.
- Students have passed a competitive entrance examination set by each institution of higher education.
Even
though the secondary school record is taken into consideration, top scores on
the entrance examination are weighted heavily in the admission process. Higher
education in Ukraine for citizens of ukrainian origin was free till 1991. Since
1991 many institutions have changed this rule and now students must pay for
their education. Almost all students get financial aid from their institutions
(stipend) but it cannot cover all living expenses. During the Soviet period of
history, Ukraine had standartized Educational programs in institutions of
higher education usually that usually lasted five years. Engineering and
Medical Institutes were exception due to the lenght of educational programs: it
was (and still remains) 6-year program for Medical Institutes, and 5,5 to 6
year programs in Polytechnics. Despite these differences all students
traditionally received Diploma of Higher Education.
The
majority of changes appeared in polytechnics after 1992, and since that time
many full-time programs can lead toward the bachelor's degree after 4 years of
formal education, and to Master's Degree after completetion of 6 years of
formal education. After the graduation students receive Diploma of Higher
Education
ADVANCED DEGREES AND RESEARCH
The
candidate of sciences (kandidat nauk) is the first advanced academic degree in
Ukraine. Admission to the kandidat nauk follows the completion of the first
tertiary-level degree (diploma) with an overall grade of "excellent"
or "good" and the passing of qualifying examinations in the field of
specialization. The kandidat nauk is granted after at least a three year period
(aspirantura) of guided research and completion and public defence of a thesis
(dissertatsiya). The recipient of the kandidat degree is granted the title of
specialist-researcher.
The
doctor of sciences (doktor nauk) degree is awarded by the Highest Qualification
Attestation Commission in conjunction with a professional council of experts in
the field of specialisation. The doctor of sciences , the highest academic
degree awarded in Ukraine parallels the requirements of published research for
faculty promotion in the United States. To be eligible for the doktor nauk
degree, a candidate must be under 40 years of age. To be awarded the degree the
completion of a major dissertation that includes results of fundamental
scientific or applied significance is required. The content of the dissertation
must be based on original research. In addition 10 to 20 published scientific
papers are required. After publication of the dissertation, the work is
submitted to an academic council which is composed of representatives of
Highest Qualification Attestation Commission and specialists in the field . A
secret ballot by peers determines whether the doktor nauk is awarded. Results
must be approved by Highest Qualification Attestation Commission. In cases
where quality of the research and dissertation is high, a doktor nauk degree
may be awarded immediately following the kandidat nauk.
Education in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
by WES Staff Members
In the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia* (Serbia and Montenegro, including the
autonomous provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina), the education system is divided
into elementary, secondary and tertiary levels.
The academic year runs from
October through July, and the main language of instruction for most
institutions is Serbian.
At present there are seven
universities in the country: the University of Belgrade, the University of Fine
Arts of Belgrade, the University of Kragujevac, the University of Nis, the University
of Novi Sad, the University of Pristina and the University of Montenegro.
Elementary and Secondary Education
Primary schooling is compulsory,
free and lasts for eight years. About 97 percent of children ages seven to 15
are enrolled in elementary schools in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FR
Yugoslavia).
Secondary education lasts four
years, from age 15 to 19. Pupils attend either vocational/technical schools or
the more academically oriented schools called gymnasia.
Organization of Higher Education
University Education
Admission requirements:
secondary-school certificate. Other admission requirements may include:
aptitude tests administered by faculties of architecture, fine and applied
arts, music and drama.
Visoke
skole (“high schools”) can be independent higher education
institutions, or they can be attached to universities or university faculties.
Such schools offer programs that last two to four academic years. Two-year
programs lead to a Level VI/1 diploma, while four-year programs lead to a Level
VII/1 diploma. Both diplomas carry a professional title in various scientific
and artistic fields (mechanical engineer, lawyer, teacher, etc.).
University
faculties and specialized institutes (for example, art and music academies)
offer programs lasting between four to six years leading to a Level VII/1
diploma. Students who earn this degree are also awarded a professional title in
various scientific and artistic fields (for instance, mechanical engineer,
doctor of medicine, economist, professor of physics, etc.).
Non-University Higher Education
Admission requirement:
secondary-school certificate.
Vise
skole (“higher schools”) offer programs in technical subjects,
paramedical sciences and other vocations. They usually run from two to three
academic years and lead to a Level VI/1 diploma with a professional title (for
instance, senior nurse, senior medical technician, transport engineer, etc.).
Post Graduate Education
The
master’s degree program is at least two years long. Upon successful completion
of the required course work and defense of a thesis, successful candidates are
awarded a Magistar Nauka (Level VII/2 diploma).
The
doctorate of science, or Doktor Nauka (Level VIII diploma), is the
highest academic degree awarded in FR Yugoslavia. This degree is obtained
through independent research and does not require structured course work of any
kind. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of published research papers and
their ability to write and defend a doctoral dissertation.
Teacher Education
Elementary school teachers
(grades 1-4) are trained in two-year programs at a pedagogical academy or
teacher-training college (vise skole). Grades 5-8 teachers must complete
a four-year program, offered at a visoke skole or a pedagogical academy
attached to a university faculty. All candidates are required to pass a state
examination to practice teaching.
Prospective secondary-school
teachers must complete a four-year degree program at university arts or science
faculties. Starting in the second year, candidates take classes in education
and teaching methodology, in addition to classes in their majors. In the first
semester of the last year, they are allowed to teach in an actual classroom.
Higher education instructors
(assistants, faculty professors, docents, extraordinary and regular professors)
are recruited among graduates, postgraduates and holders of doctoral degrees in
relevant disciplines. A Doktor Nauka is required for the highest and
best-paid faculty positions, and further specialization is required by law for
all instructors.
Grading System
In
secondary education, a 1-5 grading scale is used with 2 being the minimum
passing grade.
At
the tertiary level, a 5-10 grading scale is used with 6 being the minimum
passing grade.

Sistem pendidikan di polandia
Sistem pendidikan Polandia cukup rumit.
memasuki usia SMP belajar mata pelajaran tradisional seperti matematika,

Departemen Pendidikan bertujuan
untuk mendorong pendirian sekolah swasta.
Educational system in Russia
Russians
have always shown a great concern for education. The right to education is
stated in the constitution of the Russia Federation. It's ensured by compulsory
secondary schools, vocational schools and higher education establishment. It is
also ensured by the development of extramural and evening courses and the
system of state scholarship and grants.
Education
in Russia is compulsory up to the 9th form inclusive. The stages of compulsory
schooling in Russia are: primary education for ages 6-7 to 9-10 inclusive; and
senior school for ages 10-11 to 12-13 inclusive, and senior school for ages
13-14 to 14-15 inclusive. If a pupil of secondary school wishes to go on in
higher education, he or she must stay at school for two more years. Primary and
secondary school together comprise 11 years of study. Every school has a
"core curriculum" of academic subjects.
After
finishing the 9th form one can go on to a vocational school which offer
programmes of academic subjects and a programme of training in a technical
field, or a profession.
After
finishing the 11th form of a secondary school, a lyceum or a gymnasium one can
go into higher education. All applicants must take competitive exam. Higher
education institution, that is institutes or universities, offer a 5-years
programme of academic subjects for undergraduates in a variety of fields, as
well as a graduate course and writes a thesis, he or she receives a candidates
degree or a doctoral degree.
Higher
educational establishments are headed by Rectors. Protectors are in charge of
academic and scientific work. An institute or a university has a number of
faculties, each specializing councils which confer candidate and doctoral
degrees.
The
system of higher and secondary education in Russia is going trough a
transitional period. The main objectives of the reforms are: to decentralize
the higher education system, to develop a new financial mechanism, to give more
academic freedom to faculties and students. All secondary schools, institutes
and universities until recently have been funded by the state. Now there is
quite a number of private fee-paying primary and secondary schools, some universities
have fee-paying departments.

Pendidikan Tinggi (Higher education)
universitas, fakultas, institut, sekolah pendidikan tinggi, konservatori,

Sekolah
Dasar dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama
Sekolah Dasar (Usia 5 hingga 10)
- 6 tahun
- Years are called “grades”
Sekolah Menengah Pertama (Usia 11 hingga 13)
Sekolah Menengah Atas (Usia 14
hingga 17)
- Empat Tahun
- Tahun pertama disebut “freshman”, kedua “sophomore”, ketiga “junior”, keempat “senior”
- Dapatkan diploma sekolah menengah umum nasional
Namun demikian, siswa
internasional biasanya hanya harus membuktikan kemampuan bahasa Inggrisnya
dengan nilai TOEFL mereka.
Community College (Usia 18 ke atas)
- Dua tahun
Persyaratan
masuk universitas untuk siswa internasional biasanya termasuk kefasihan
berbahasa Inggris. Siswa internasional dapat mengikuti program University
Foundation Year dari EF Brittin College Prep agar mendapatkan tingkat bahasa
Gelar Pasca Sarjana
Program Pasca Sarjana ditawarkan di Amerika Utara untuk
program S2 ( MA, MSc dan MBA) dan Doktorat (S3). Program Pasca Sarjana biasanya
memakan waktu 1 tahun (program pengajaran) atau 2 tahun (program riset). Namun
demikian gelar doktorat biasanya memerlukan tambahan waktu belajar. Gelar MBA
Education in Mexico
Education
in Mexico is greatly segregated by social class. Children of wealthy families
go to private schools with plenty of funding for books and materials, while
children of poor families attend schools with less money to spend on education.
These circumstances create disparate educational levels, and maintain the gap
between the classes. Although conditions are not ideal, the government takes
steps to encourage education.
The
Mexican government mandates education through the completion of the sixth grade,
but many children traditionally choose work over school. The importance of the
income generated by working children means that for many families there is a
choice between survival and education. In spite of these difficulties, over the
past five years steady improvement in school attendance has occurred: UNICEF
reports that 84% of children who begin primary school reach grade five. A lower
dropout rate means more young people are likely to continue on to a higher
education, which may help lead children out of poverty. Today more than 8
million young people are enrolled in schools beyond the primary level, almost 2
million more than in 1994.
The
government has successfully started programs to improve educational
opportunities in Mexico. Under President Ernesto Zedillo more money and
supplies have been channeled to schools than ever before. President Zedillo's
most recent State of the Union Address outlines some of the progress that has
been made. Government spending on education now amounts to 25 centavos of every
peso spent by the government. This money is used to build new primary schools
and technical schools. The money also helped to distribute free textbooks to
90% of the public schools in Mexico. Nine out of ten children between the ages
of six and fourteen are enrolled in primary school, 770,000 more than were
enrolled in 1994. Another program proving helpful to families with children is the
PROGRESA program. PROGRESA provides aid to the poorest of the poor in Mexico by
providing money for schooling costs such as uniforms and textbooks for the
families and health care for the children. These services are contingent on the
children's school attendance. The PROGRESA program helps 2.3 million families
who would not otherwise be able to afford schooling for their children. The
government efforts have made a difference: the number of children starting
school who finish sixth grade is increasing steadily. During the 1993-94 school
year 74% finished the sixth grade, during the 1997-98 year the number rose to
83%, and the estimate for the 2000-01 school year shows 87% completing the
sixth grade. These steady trends of improvement are a good sign that the educational
future of children in Mexico is improving.

Education in Argentina
Argentina's
education system boasts an excellent international reputation.

In
Argentina, you will experience a quality of life that is among the highest in
Latin America. Our InterNations Country Guide offers an overview of different
aspects of living in Argentina – from healthcare and insurance to traffic and
international schools.
Education
Expats
families with children will be interested in learning more about education in
Argentina. Generally speaking, Argentina’s school system has a good
international reputation. Argentina has one of the highest levels of literacy
and education among all Latin American countries.
In
Argentina, education starts at the pre-primary level, with kindergarten for
children aged between two or three and five. A pre-school education is,
however, not compulsory, except for the last year, which is called educación
inicial. Primary schooling then begins at the age of six, and we will give
a rough outline of the education system below.
Compulsory
Schooling
Nowadays,
compulsory education for Argentine schoolchildren includes two options: Either
six years of primary school are followed by another six years at secondary, or
there are seven years of primary education and five years at a secondary
school. All twelve years of free schooling are now obligatory.
Secondary
education is again sub-divided into two levels. Lower secondary provides
general education while the second cycle of secondary schooling encourages
students to specialize. For example, they can choose a vocational,
professional, or academic focus. At the end of secondary school, students will
sit an entrance exam for Argentina’s 39 national universities. Private
universities in Argentina may have additional admission requirements.
International Schools
While
English is very important as a foreign language, Spanish remains the
predominant language in the classroom. Younger kids may easily pick up a
foreign language within six months. For older students with little or no
knowledge of Spanish, such an experience is far more likely to be disruptive,
though. Therefore many expat families prefer to send their children to a
private international school.
48 schools in Argentina offer the International
Baccalaureate Diploma. There are a number of international schools in the
Buenos Aires area. They cater to various expat communities, particularly the
British, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and US American communities. There
are also a few bilingual (Spanish-English) schools in the cities of Cordoba and
Rosario, most notably the Colegio Mark Twain (Cordoba) and the Colegio San Bartolomé (Rosario).

ARGENTINA
in BRIEF
Education
In Argentina all children between the ages of six and
fourteen have to go to school, by law.
Free education is available to everyone and the literacy rate is over
95%. High-school education is generally
both affordable and available, although attendance falls by nearly half among
those older than 14. There are state and
private schools for primary and secondary level; those in the city areas are usually better equipped
than those in the country. School
curricula is similar to that in Australia and includes Science, Mathematics,
Languages, Art, History, Sport and Geography.
Among Latin American countries Argentina has the highest levels of
education and literacy.
The percentage of individuals attending and completing
university degree programs is 3.2% of the population, the second highest in the
world after France. The country’s public
university system is also free of charge.
The university system has nearly 70 institutions, divided equally
between national institutions (including a few provincially sponsored), public
institutions, and private institutions.
Sistem Pendidikan Kanada
Setiap provinsi dan teritori Kanada bertanggung jawab atas sistem

Education
in Iran
The Iranian Educational System
A brief review of Iranian educational system, September 2001
Having the world's youngest population, the Islamic Republic of Iran bears the responsibility of educating more than 18 million students at segregated schools. General education is free and parents are obliged to enrol their six years old children at schools. It comprises 5 years of primary, 3 years of lower secondary, 3 years of upper secondary and one year of pre-university education. The language of instruction is Farsi. The first day of school year is 22 September (1st Mehr), which is annually celebrated joyfully.
In the past two decades, the education system and curricula have been reformed several times. The new system of secondary education is the result of several reforms made according to the changes in society, job market and the needs of youth. This new system is oriented toward vocational training and has provided young people with many options to select desirable fields of study, jobs and careers. In the past five years the number of technical- vocational schools has increased noticeably and efforts have been made to lead more female students to technical-vocational education.
Since education is considered a top priority in the development plans of the country, the authorities have endeavoured to increase the primary education enrolment rate. The net intake rate had an ascending trend in the 1990's such that the rate grew from 89.4% in 1990 to 97.8% in 2000.
Iran is one of the few developing countries with great success in girls' education. At present, girls comprise 49% of the total student population in the country. Attempts are being made to remove the obstacles in the way of girls' education and to provide equal educational opportunities for them. In 2000 the net intake rate was 97.8% at primary, 90.3% at lower secondary, and 69.1% at upper secondary levels.
Application of modern educational equipment and technologies such as information and communication technologies is developing considerably and the number of schools enjoying computer use is rapidly rising. Some schools in Tehran and other large cities are linked to the Internet. A project has recently been launched for linking some high schools via a national electronic network (Intranet). Teaching methods and approaches are constantly being reviewed and updated. Although traditional methods and teacher-based approaches are still widely used, efforts are being made to provide teachers with in-service training aiming at updating their knowledge on new teaching methods and classroom control so that cooperative and student-based approaches replace the traditional ones.
Decentralization of education and attracting community participation as well as vesting more authority in provinces and schools for decision making and selection of curricula geared to local needs are among the plans on which emphasis has been placed in the past few years.
Higher education in Iran
Universities
and higher education institutes are governed by a board of trustees. Newly
founded and smaller higher education institutes are governed by a joint
regional board of trustees. The number of state universities has grown from 22
in 1978 to 98 in 2000.
Public sector
Presently,
54 universities and institutes of higher education are active under the
Ministry of Science, research and Technology. In addition, the comprehensive
Applied Sciences University was established in order to strengthen technical
and vocational education and train skillfull manpower needed for industry,
agriculture and service sectors.
Private sector
Islamic
Azad University; as the first private university, Azad University benefited
from educational facilities including buildings, equipment and laboratories
offered by local officials and generous people. The university is presently
active in over 110 cities in Iran with more than half a million students.
Other private institutes of higher education
Some
33 private institutes of higher education, offering both undergraduate and
postgraduate courses with about 23,000 students are active in Iran.
Distance Education
Payam-e-Nour
University aimed to expand higher education in remote areas for employed candidates,
takes part in training of specialized manpower and make efficient use of
educational potentials and facilities. The university admitted students in 18
disciplines through nationwide entrance examinations in 147 centers across the
country. Of a total of 146,990 students in the academic year 1998-99, 52% were
female.
Students
The number of students enrolled in all institutions in the academic year 1998-99 was 1,308,150 including 47.62% students in the public sector and 52.38% students in the private sector. The proportion of female students was 42.26% in the public sector and 44.46% in the private sector. A total of 347,722 students were admitted by universities and higher education institutes of public and private sectors. The number of enrolments in the public sector was 45.64%, including 45.52% female students.

child may begin schooling with grade 0 (also called reception, or grade-R) from
the age of four. Grades 1 to 9 are compulsory and classified as General
Education and Training (GET).
Grades
11 and 12, Further Education and Training (FET), are non-compulsory;
qualification at this level with a matriculation certificate is required to
enter tertiary education.
Some
schools offer a post-matric/sixth-form level which allows students to sit for
A-level exams.
The
three-tier system of education is as follows:
- Primary school: Grade 0/1 to grade 6/7
- Secondary school: Grade 8 to 9 (compulsory); grade 10 to 12 (non-compulsory)
- Tertiary education: Universities, technical colleges
This
system is also referred to in phases:
- Foundation phase: Reception to grade 3
- Intermediate phase: Grades 4 to 6
- Senior phase: Grades 7 to 9
- Further Education and Training (FET): Grades 10 to 12 (matriculation certificate)
- Higher Education (HE)
Pre-Primary/Preschool
Preschools
are for children from age four up to seven years of age. They are normally
split into two grades:
- Grade R (year 0 or reception year), for children of four years of age who will turn five before June 30th
- Grade 1 for children of five years of age who will turn six before June 30th
Compulsory
education begins at grade 1. Parents are permitted to enrol their
children in grade R or grade 1 a year later than usual if they feel that they
are not ready for school. Some schools make this compulsory, insisting
that children begin year one at the age of seven.
Public
preschools are provided by some of the provincial departments of education but
funding is limited. Most require top up fees. There are also many independent
preschools or crèches. Children's learning focuses on literacy, numeracy and
life skills.
The
Centre for Early
Childhood Development
runs the Early Childhood Development Programme (ECD), mainly implemented in
preschools, aimed at developing young children.
Primary school
Children
attend primary school from their reception year to grade 6. The reception year
is optional, and children begin formal schooling in grade one. Junior primary
school usually lasts three years where children are taught basic subjects such
as reading and writing, mathematics, and usually a second language is
introduced.
During
senior primary school (age 10 to 12 years) in addition to maths and language
skills, children learn history, geography, life skills and science as well as
developing written and speaking skills in their second language.
Assessments
Annual
National Assessments (ANAs) are standardised across the country and take place
in literacy and numeracy in the foundation stage (grades 1 to 3) and in
numeracy and languages in the intermediate phase (grades 4 to 6).
Secondary school
Secondary
education is also divided into junior and senior phases. Students may study two
or three languages in secondary school. Senior secondary school offers the
chance for students to broaden and deepen their knowledge in various academic
subjects to help them with further study or prepare them for their choice of
career.
Students
study a minimum of four subjects from the following areas:
- General studies
- Commercial studies
- Natural sciences
- Technical studies
- The arts
- Agriculture
- Domestic science
Grades
10 to 12 (optional years) can also include career orientated education and
training in other Further Education and Training institutions such technical
and community colleges.
Exams and certificates
Education
is compulsory up to the end of grade 9. Certificates are awarded on completion
of grade 10 and 11, but the National Senior Certificate or NSC (the equivalent
of a High School Diploma) is awarded on completion of grade 12. The NSC acts as
a high school leaving certificate and is also referred to as the matriculation
or matric certificate.
To
gain the NSC students must take at least six subjects but there is an option to
include three others which are not compulsory. Compulsory subjects include:
- Two languages (home language plus another)
- Mathematics
- Life Orientation

Primary
Education
Education
in Morocco is compulsory through to age 15 and free. Notwithstanding this, many
children in rural areas (especially girls) fail to attend. Those who do, often
drop out before they reach secondary school level, and there are shocking gaps
in literacy because of these unfortunate trends. The primary school program is
designed to last 6 years. Average dropout rates for boys and girls approximate
21%.
Middle
Education
Middle
school taking place at colleges requires 3 years to complete.
Less than 60% of pupils are either able to, or wish to finish this phase. In
poorer rural areas their hands are needed elsewhere for work, to supplement the
family income instead.
Secondary
Education
During
their initial year at secondary school, students follow a core curriculum in
either arts & science, mathematics or original education (the pre-French
Koranic system). In the two succeeding years they apply their minds to one of
agricultural science, earth & life sciences, mathematics, physics or
technical studies.
Vocational
Education
Morocco
has an ambitious plan in place to tackle unemployment through targeted
vocational training. The program includes doubling institutional capacity, and
partnerships with commerce too. Hopefully 750,000 newly trained employees will
have reached a market hungry for their skills by 2013.
Tertiary
Education
The
are 14 universities in Morocco, of which the Mohammed V University in Rabat is
regarded as the most prestigious, having faculties of law, liberal arts,
medicine and sciences.
By
far the oldest though is the venerable University of Al-Karaouine (or
Al-Qarawiyyin), established in 1947 on the foundations of a Mosque School
believed founded in 859. It remains one of the leading education and spiritual
centers of the Muslim World.
The
public education system in Egypt consists of three levels. The basic
education stage is for 4-14 year olds and consists of two years of
kindergarten followed by primary school for six years and preparatory school
for three years.
The
secondary school stage lasts three years, from ages 15 to 17, followed by the
tertiary level. Education is compulsory for children aged 6-14. Moreover, all
levels of education are free in government-run schools.
Promotional
examinations are held at all levels except in grades 3, 6 and 9 at the basic
education level and grades 11 and 12 in the secondary stage, which apply
standardised regional or national exams.
The
Ministry of Education is responsible for making decisions about the education
system with the support of three Centres: the National Centre of Curricula
Development, the National Centre for Education Research, and the National
Centre for Examinations and Educational Evaluation. Each centre has its own
focus in formulating education policies with other state level committees.
The Ministry of Higher Education supervises the higher education system.
There is
also a formal teacher’s qualification track in place for basic and secondary
education levels. Teachers are required to complete four years of pre-service
courses at university to enter the teaching profession. The Professional
Academy for Teachers offers several programmes to raise teaching standards in
mathematics, science and technology. Local teachers also take part in the
international professional training programmes.
Government
schools
There
are two types of government schools:
Private
schools
There
are three types of private schools:
Many of
the private schools were built by missionaries, are currently affiliated with
churches and provide quality education.
Many
private schools offer additional educational programmes, along with the
national curriculum, such as the American High School Diploma, the British
IGCSE system, the French baccalauréat, the German Abitur and the
International Baccalaureate.
Basic
education
Basic
education consists of pre-primary, primary and preparatory levels of
education. Irrespective of whether they are private or state-run, all
pre-school institutions come under the Ministry of Education. The ministry
receives support from international agencies, such as the World Bank, to
enhance the early childhood education system by increasing access to schools,
improving the quality of education and building the capacity of teachers..
The
second tier of basic compulsory education is the preparatory or lower
secondary stage which lasts for three years. Completion of this tier grants
students the Basic Education Completion Certificate. It is important for
students to complete this level of education, as early drop outs easily
recede into illiteracy and eventually poverty.
Secondary
education
Secondary
education, which is also compulsory, consists of three tracks: general,
vocational / technical and the dual system vocational education which is
represented in Mubarak Kohl schools. The general secondary stage includes
three years of education, whereas the secondary vocational track could be for
three-five years and three years for the dual system vocational education.
To enter
the secondary level, students must pass a national exam at the end of the
preparatory stage. At this level, students have assessments during the first
year, and the average of the end of year national standardised exams for year
two and three qualifies the students to take the Certificate of General
Secondary Education-Thanawiya Amma.
Technical/Vocational
Secondary Education Technical education, which is provided in three-year and
five-year programmes, includes schools in three different fields: industrial,
commercial and agricultural. The UN and other multilateral organisations are
working towards improving the technical and vocational training system in
Egypt.
Al Azhar
Education System
Another
system that runs in parallel with the public educational system is the
Al-Azhar system. It consists of four years of primary stage, a three year
preparatory stage and finally three years of secondary stage. Al Azhar
education system is supervised by the Supreme Council of the Al-Azhar
Institution.
The
Azhar Institution itself is nominally independent from the Ministry of
Education, but is ultimately supervised by the Egyptian Prime Minister. Al
Azhar schools are called ‘institutes’ and include primary, preparatory, and
secondary phases. All schools in all stages teach religious subjects
and non-religious subjects. The bulk of the curriculum, however, consists of
religious subjects.
Egypt
has an extensive higher education system. About 30% of all Egyptians in the
relevant age group go to university. However, only half of them graduate.
The
Ministry of Higher Education supervises the tertiary level of education.
There are a number of universities catering to students in diverse fields. In
the current education system, there are 17 public universities, 51 public
non-university institutions, 16 private universities and 89 private higher
institutions. Of the 51 non–university institutions, 47 are Middle Technical
Institutes offering two-year courses and four are Higher Technical Institutes
offering four-five year courses. The higher education cohort was expected to
increase by close to 6% (60,000 students) in 2009.
Initiatives
to improve the system
Egyptian
tertiary education is run centrally, with institutions having little control
over decisions about the curriculum, programme development and deployment of
staff and faculty. In order to improve this outdated system, rigid curriculum
and teaching practices, the government has established the National Agency
for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) as an
independent entity.
The aim
of NAQAAE is to introduce international best practices, promote quality and
provide greater autonomy for universities and technical institutes. Two new
government bodies have been established to promote research, development and
innovation (RDI) through increased funding and technical assistance. In 2007,
the overall level of funding of RDI was 0.24 percent of the GDP but it is
expected that by 2012 RDI funding will reach 0.5% of GDP, which is quite high
by the standards of lower middle income countries.
New
Master Plan
The
Ministry of Education recently proposed a Master Plan for the Development of
Higher Education until 2022, which is a second phase following the reforms
initiated in 1995. This plan aims to further the reform process in the higher
education sector by spreading best practice. The World Bank has been one of
the few donors, along with the OECD, to be deeply involved with the higher
education sector.
Types of
institutions
There
are both private and public institutions of higher education in Egypt. Public
higher education is free in Egypt, and Egyptian students only pay
registration fees. Private education is much more expensive. Major
universities include Cairo University, Alexandria University, Ain Shams
University, and the 1,000-year-old Al-Azhar University, while the American
University in Cairo, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime
Transport, the British University and Université Française d'Égypte are some
of the leading private universities.

Perkembangan
Pendidikan di India
India telah menjadi pijakan utama dalam
nilai-nilai pembelajaran dari masa ke masa. Namun demikian, ketika negara India
pendidikan dasar guna mencapai angka 100% melek huruf.
Seluruh
tingkat pendidikan, mulai dari tingkatan pendidikan dasar hingga pendidikan
tinggi, menjadi perhatian khusus dari Department of
Higher Education dan Departement of School Education and Literacy.
teknik membaca, menulis, aritmatika, teologi, hukum, astronomi, metafisika,
etika, ilmu kedokteran, dan agama. Sekolah-sekolah tersebut umunya diikuti oleh
perwakilan pelajar dari seluruh lapisan masyarakat.
Sistem pendidikan
1979-80, Pemerintah India melalui Departemen Pendidikan meluncurkan suatu

pemeliharaan warisan Negara Islam-Arab. Biaya tunjangan dan univesitas
seluruhnya ditanggung oleh Negara. Rata-rata program studinya selesai dalam
jangka waktu empat tahun, lalu menyandang gelar B.A atau B.S ( Bachelor of
Arts atau Bachelor of Science).
Universitas
Bagdad, selain memiliki fakultas-fakultas umum seperti kedokteran, teknik,
1. Fakultas Al- ‘Ulum al-
Islamiya/Fakultas Syari’ah
Fakultas Syari’ah mula-mula namanya
Madrasah Abu Hanifah, kemudian diubah menjadi Madrasah Al-Imam A’zham.[2][2] Sesudah itu diubah lagi menjadi Darul Ulum
Diniyah. Kemudian menjadi Fakultas Syari’ah, salah satu fakultas dari
Universitas Bagdad.
pendidikan. Selanjutnya Fakultas Syari’ah mengubah namanya menjadi Fakultas
Ilmu Keislaman (Kulliyat Al-‘Ulum Al-Islamiya).
Fakultas Syari’ah/Al-‘Ulum al-Islamiya
Lama pelajaran empat tahun
sesudah peljaran Tsanawiyah. Fakultas ini menyelenggarakan jenjang pendidikan
tingkat undergraduate studies (S1) dan graduate studies (S2 dan
S3).
Fakultas Al- ‘Ulum al- Islamiya saat ini
terdiri atas tiga jurusan yaitu jurusan syari’ah (Qism al-Syari’a), jurusan
Daftar Pelajaran Fakultas Syari’ah
Universitas Bagdad:
v Tingkat I: Ilmu Al-Qur’an, Hadits, Ahwal
Syakhsiyah, Munahi, Nahu, Balaghoh, Arudl, Adab, Tarikh, Mantiq dan Bahasa

2. Fakultas Tarbiyah
lama pelajarnnya dua tahun.
tiga tahunpada tahun 1939 hingga sekarang.
Dahulu pelajar-pelajarannya putera saja,
Darul Mu’allimin al-Aliyah dirubah namanya menjadi fakultas Tarbiyah seabagai salah
jiwa, lama belajarnya etahun.
B.
Kurikulum dan Sitem Evaluasi
Beberapa fakultas di Universitas Bagdad
termasuk fakultas Syari’ah menggunakan sistem kurikulum paket tahunan (nizom
thanawi), bukan sistem kredit smester (SKS).[5][5] Sistem Kredit Smester umumnya hanya

evaluasi: ujian awal tahun (imtihan al-awwal), ujian pertengahan tahun (imtihan
al-wusta), dan ujian akhir tahun (imtihan al-niha’i). Lebih lanjut, setiap
tahap evaluasi terbagi atas dua jenis ujian yaitu ujian lisan (imtihan Shafawi)
mempunyai pengalaman mengajar bukan saja padaUniversitas Bagdad.
tahun.[7][7]
E.
Sarana Penunjang Pendidikan dan Ekstra Kulikurel
a. Sarana Penunjang
Pendidikan:
1) Perpustakaan
sistem peroperasian OPAC, CD ROM, on-line searching, akses internet
